Dear Highland Ranch Families,
We are pleased to announce the 3rd annual Highland Ranch Educational Foundation’s Spell-A-Thon! This fundraiser will be both fun and academic! 100% of the money raised during this event will provide the funding to purchase the math component of Compass Learning, which will then complete this curriculum/tutorial for all grades, K-5. With your help we can easily reach our goal of $10,000. We can reach this attainable goal if every student collects a minimum of $20 in pledge money.
Here’s how it works:
The Spell-A-Thon is a written test that will be given in class by the teachers on Thursday, January 24th, 2013. Each grade level will have its own set of 20 words (kindergarten will have 12 words). Attached you will find a spelling list and a pledge sheet.
Students will have 2 weeks to study for the test. During that time students can voluntarily participate by collecting pledges of any amount of money for each word they spell correctly on the test. For example, donors may want to pledge $1 for each correctly spelled word. Alternatively, donors may give a flat donation of any dollar amount. Please turn in your pledge sheets to your teacher no later than Wednesday, January 23rd.
After the Spell-A-Thon, the graded tests will be returned to the students, along with the pledge sheets, so they can begin to collect their pledge money. Please return all pledge money to your child’s teacher or to the Foundation’s mailbox in the office by Friday, February 8th. Please make checks payable to the Highland Ranch Educational Foundation. Pledges can also be made on PayPal via our website (www.highlandrancheducationalfoundation.org)
We are in need of test correctors. If you can volunteer your time on Thursday, January 24th from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM please email Mary Ann Woodward.
Thank you for your support!
